Clinical and developmental hypnosisWorking in a state of focused attention — without losing control

Clinical and developmental hypnosis is work done in a state of deep focus. It is not sleep, it is not a loss of control, and it has nothing to do with stage hypnosis. You stay in contact with yourself for the whole session.

Starting point

The critical mind does not disappear in hypnosis. It simply goes quiet for a while — quiet enough that you can hear what it usually drowns out.

What it actually is

In the Ericksonian model we work with, hypnosis is a state of naturally concentrated attention, close to what happens when a book absorbs you completely, or when you drive a familiar route and suddenly find yourself at your destination. The therapist does not «programme» you and does not take control — they accompany a process that happens inside you.

Clinical hypnosis works on a specific health problem or symptom: anxiety, a phobia, pain, insomnia, a difficult habit. It starts from an assessment of the situation, the goal is agreed in advance, and the sessions are structured around reducing that particular symptom and checking whether the intervention is actually working.

Developmental hypnosis does not start from a symptom but from the question of where a person wants to grow — in contact with themselves, in decision-making, in building inner resources, focus or confidence. It does not treat a diagnosed condition; it widens access to memories, emotions and patterns that stay out of reach in ordinary conversation.

In practice the two paths often blend. The same session can begin with a concrete symptom and move into developmental work once there is room for it. The goal and the direction are always agreed together at the start of the process.

How it runs

From the first message to closing the process.

01

First conversation

We agree on the goal, check whether hypnotherapy is a good fit, and answer your questions about how the process itself works.

02

Deepening focus

You sit or lie comfortably with your eyes closed while the therapist guides you through a gradual deepening of relaxation and concentration.

03

Working with what surfaces

Images, memories, bodily sensations and emotions become the material we work with together — without any ready-made interpretation being imposed on you.

04

Debrief and integration

After the session we talk about what came up and what is worth carrying into everyday life.

Who it is for

Clear expectations before the first session.

01

People with anxiety, phobias or stubborn habits

For when rational arguments are not enough to change something.

02

People with sleep or concentration problems

Work on rhythm, tension and automatic patterns of reacting.

03

People curious about their own inner resources

For those who want to understand themselves beyond purely rational analysis.

An important boundary

What this is not.
